GTA 6 lands on PlayStation Store: preorders imminent?

As anticipation for Grand Theft Auto VI reaches new heights, Rockstar Games has quietly taken another step forward: GTA 6 is now listed on the PlayStation Store. While symbolic, this move speaks volumes about the progress of the studio’s communication strategy. Could pre-orders be just around the corner?

A First Step Toward Launch

Without any major official announcement, Sony and Rockstar have added GTA VI to the PlayStation Store, accessible via the console or mobile app. For now, players cannot purchase or pre-order the title, but they can add it to their wishlist, allowing them to receive a notification as soon as the game becomes available for sale.

This store listing doesn’t reveal any new details yet: no pricing, no collector’s edition, and no early purchase options. However, the mere fact that the game is already featured on such a central distribution platform signals an escalation in the communication leading up to the launch.

Pre-Orders Expected by Late May or Early June?

Officially scheduled for release on May 26, 2026, GTA VI is following the typical timeline of major Rockstar games. The publisher has often opened pre-orders several months, or even a year, before the actual release. Take Red Dead Redemption II, for example, whose pre-orders started more than six months in advance.

At this pace, it seems entirely reasonable to expect GTA 6 pre-orders to open by late May or early June 2025, right after the media frenzy surrounding the second trailer. This window would also allow Rockstar to roll out a long-term marketing campaign over the summer, something the studio has mastered over the years.

A Minimalist Yet Revealing Listing

For now, the game’s page on the PlayStation Store remains very minimal: no additional visuals, no new trailers, but a clean presentation of the game’s universe, official logo, and supported platforms. The Xbox version, meanwhile, has not yet appeared on the Microsoft Store, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see it added very soon.

Sony’s move to list the game first suggests a strengthened marketing partnership, similar to what was done with GTA V and Red Dead Redemption II.

A Growing Sense of Readiness

While discreet, this step marks the beginning of a new phase: the concrete commercialization of GTA 6. Until now, Rockstar has kept information scarce, preferring to reveal details gradually. The game’s arrival on the store shows that things are speeding up behind the scenes.

For fans, it’s also a call to get ready. Adding the game to their wishlist allows them to receive instant notifications when pre-orders go live. In short: those eager to be among the first to secure their copy can already get a head start.
