GTA 6: confirmed for consoles, but what about the PC version?

Grand Theft Auto VI is now officially scheduled for release on May 26, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. However, no release date has been announced for the PC version, raising questions among PC gamers.

A history of delayed releases on PC

Rockstar Games has often favored consoles for the initial launches of its major titles. For example, GTA V was released on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2013, while the PC version didn’t arrive until 2015, almost two years later. Similarly, Red Dead Redemption 2 launched on consoles in 2018, with a PC release in 2019. This trend suggests that GTA VI could follow a similar pattern, with a PC version available several months, or even years, after the console release.

PC release date speculation

Although Rockstar has made no official announcement about the PC version of GTA VI, some analysts estimate that it could see the light of day in 2027 or 2028. This estimate is based on previous delays between console and PC releases of the publisher’s games. However, the continuing growth of the PC gaming market and increasing demand from gamers could prompt Rockstar to reduce this gap.

PC gamers’ expectations

The PC gaming community hopes that Rockstar will recognize the importance of this platform and deliver an optimized version of GTA VI. Previous PC versions of Rockstar games have often benefited from graphical enhancements and additional features, fuelling expectations for this new iteration.
